How to check your fragrance, from the box to the bottle.
Look up a batch code on CheckFresh (opens in a new tab)CheckFresh is an independent production-date lookup. A matching code or a lookup result does not prove authenticity; a missing result does not prove a product is counterfeit.
How to check your fragrance
01 Find the batch code
Look for a small lot code printed, stamped or engraved on the bottle and, where provided, its box. Compare the codes and keep photographs of any differences. A batch code is different from the retail barcode and may be copied.
02 Review the packaging
Compare the name, concentration, volume and packaging condition with your order. Check for damage, unclear printing or signs of tampering. Packaging and seals can vary by brand, market and production date; testers may have simpler packaging.
03 Inspect the bottle
Examine the label, cap and atomizer for damage or unusual workmanship. Compare with the brand's current product information. Bottle weight, colour or wrapping alone cannot establish authenticity.
04 Know what scent can tell you
Performance varies with formulation, storage, skin and weather. Longevity or a different scent impression alone is not a reliable authenticity test.
05 Ask for help
Keep the packaging and send your order number, product name and clear photos of the bottle, box and lot codes to hello@velvetaccord.ca. We can review the concern with our supplier. For product-specific verification, contact the brand; online date tools do not replace its assessment.
